The history of the Capuchin friars in Sardinia and Corsica

First volume with information to ask the Church to declare the future Saint Ignatius of Laconi "Blessed" (Rome, 1854)
The first volume of the documentation (Positio) submitted to the Church to request the beatification of the future Saint Ignatius of Laconi (Rome, 1854)

We have been in Sardinia for over 400 years: we have plenty of stories to tell you.

We have been among the Sardinian people since 1591. We experience the joys and the hopes, the griefs and the anxieties of everyone whose path we cross.

We bless, we absolve, sometimes we give a piece of bread. We are the Capuchin friars.

Even if not all of us can perform miracles..., we strive to do so anyway, every day, for more than 400 years.

Our archive holds our entire history: the notes we prepared for preaching, the letters we received, and the answers we gave. It also contains the story of every person we met, carried with us in our cells, in our hearts, and in our prayers.

For instance, what was once the garden of the Cagliari convent became, after 1866, the Capuchin Garden, managed by the Municipality of Cagliari and open to everyone.

Our history is intertwined with yours. Our mission is to preserve all these precious stories and to let you discover them.
